Starting out...

So, it's been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl to actually get a creative piece of my very own published. I started to really write at around the age of 8 years old, my first story being a mystery reminiscent of Nancy Drew. Of course, I've learned that mystery writing is hardly my forte, but it gives perspective on how early on in life I started to take writing seriously and tackled it with both passion and persistence.

Over the years, my style has evolved and continues to do so since there's always room for improvement no matter how wonderful you are or how natural the talent. But I digress slightly. My style has always been within the realms of fiction, leading me to write stories in the fantasy and science fiction subgenres. As I got older, adult themed innuendoes became very apparent in my stories and by the time I was 14, they had taken a sexual turn. Eventually, a majority of my writing, though still typically within the realms of fantasy and science fiction, can easily be labeled as romance in subgenre.

Though I've been writing creatively a majority of my life, I've never tried pursuing a career in writing until recently. Why? Partly because I never thought I'd be considered good enough and partly because of having to discipline myself in actually finishing up something that can seem daunting. However, opportunity eventually presented itself and I figured.... you know, I'm not getting any younger and if this dream is even remotely possible, the only way to know is to try and submit something. So, submit, I have. And to my pleasant surprise, my manuscript was accepted and now I'm in the process of getting my first romance novella published. My hope is that this is the first of many books to come as I'd really like for this to be the start of pursuing that dream I've always had about becoming a writer.

That said, I'm now going through the editing stages of my very first to-be-published novella currently titled "Precious Polly". The story itself is for the Naughty Nursery Rhymes line at Breathless Press (my publisher), a new line they are currently trying to establish and I am helping to pioneer. I'm very excited for this opportunity and hope that my novella is received well. It is my first and I'm extremely nervous about its reception, but my view is this: regardless, this will be a learning experience, one in which I can grow as a writer. No matter what, I know I will forge on ahead and continue to write and submit and hopefully manage to entertain and bring smiles to many peoples' faces with my books.
